  5. Berlin <3

It may not be as typically chic as Paris or London but it doesn't take itself too seriously, an important quality in the best fashionistas.

The number of flea markets and second hand shops also mean you can change your look easily according to your mood, and not break the bank while doing so!

  20. Puh..that's a bit hard...well, I need to go for one of the classics: London!
although I love the minimalistic scandinavian style, London means outgoing, courageous, sometimes fancy, sometimes edgy, but always eyecathing fashion. Nowhere else I got the impresssion that people really have fun styleing themselves and experimenting with fashion.

  21. BERLIN is the Cinderella of fashion cities. It has a hard time getting attention at the moment, with tough competition from the wicked step-sisters New York and London, not to mention the constant shadow cast by the rather chic but archaic Paris. But Berlin is young and will soon find its lost glass slipper.

  28. New York, New York. They say the glam has gone since the 80s, but where does fashion tradition, versatility and independence meet elsewhere? New York has it all - hidden and obvious, the land of plenty for fashion lovers. We ♥ NY.

    ReplyDelete
  29. New York, because it's classy and edgy at the same time!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Nairobi, Kenya - because it's unexpected, it's infused with that African rhythm and flair, geometric and eccentric, always fresh.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Definitely Paris!
The French Chic style is sooo beautiful ♥ Nothing better than this style! In addition Paris has an infinite choice of shops to offer, next to all those little beautiful cafés and restaurants where you can have a break while your shopping tour.

  40. Zürich, because the mountains, water and stunning architecture makes for the perfect backdrop for everyone to look their best. With art and design overflowing the streets, both in shops and as people's outfits it's truly an inspiring place to wake up and get dressed in new ways every day. Everything's just that bit more glamorous!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Berlin. Without a doubt. Of course, many people say that Berlin is running a bit behind in fashion. But after a beautiful weekend with great people at the Christopher Street Day, I am sure there is no comparable place where you can be as free as you want and you can wear whatever you want without catching strange looks. And that is what fashion is about, right? Not wearing the most expensive dress, but that you feel comfortable and accepted as a person - no matter what gender, origin, style or the money you have.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Berlin!
    avant-garde-ist, innovative, trend-setting.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'd definitely call Berlin the fashion capital, and everybody will be like "What?! Berliners wear the WORST CLOTHES!" but that's what I love about Berlin, you can come as you are, glitter or joggers, big waves or 'Iro'. Fashion is meant to be fun!

  44. London - The fact that you can express your individuality so easily, without fear of discrimination, and that many are extremely flamboyant in their choice of attire, regardless of what is 'in season' is refreshing. In fact quite often it is clear that fashion houses are heavily influence by london street fashion, especially in the creative hub of East london. Also the fact that London is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world helps influence the whole cascade of styles you see there. Lastly the large number of Vintage shops, charity shops and markets allows you to mix contemporary high street and couture with timeless classics and unique pieces.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Berlin is so energetic, vibrant and creative... designers here are more courageous than anywhere else... people wow you on the streets - it's GOT to be fashion capital, at least it's mine :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Paris is the place to be for all fashionistas. I remember going to paris for the first time at the age of 14 - I felt like I was ina movie. All women looked stylish and efortless, while all men looked like Alain Delon=) I want to repeat this experience again!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Helsinki!
It's got one of the first (and still one of the best) streetstyle blogs, HEL LOOKS, and I would quite like to see for myself what the infernal dresscode looks like. Also, is there any better accessory to pink hair than the aurora borealis?

    ReplyDelete
  48. NEW YORK, NEW YORK!
not only because it's the most interesting and inspiring fashion capital, but also becuase of it's museums, it's street art, it's music, it's theaters and food!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Stockholm. Minimalism, uniqueness and blond hair.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Reykjavík! There is no other place on earth that combines the beauty of nature and human creativity in such an unique and ever surprising way. The traditional Icelandic, folky woolen looks combined with upcoming style inventors like Kron Kron or Mundi Vondi sprinkled with some designer's vintage and grandma's attic treasures, all seen thru the eyes of elves, fjords and talking rocks - In Iceland your eyes will never get bored and your heart will always have something to look at. It surely is a special place to get inspired and find your own honest, fearless way to express yourself!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Of course it is PARIS!

The connection of waking up after beacoup d’amour in a cozy little flat with a cigarette et un croissant already is a very good hint for why this city is the ultimate fashion capital! But the day continues: Strolling around la tour Eiffel, shopping at Chanel, drinking wine sur la Seine, eating some of those madeleines.

Oh Paris, with the “Je ne sais quoi!”

    ReplyDelete
  52. Paris = Simplicity and elegance :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Paris is my ultimate fashion capital. Some of the world's best designers have their headquaters based out of Paris (Hermès, Lanvin and YSL to name a few). The culture there pulls so much inspiration for design and creativity. The fashion is rich, lush, simple but packs major attention. I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  54. It must be Copenhagen.
What's great about the city is the relaxed and cool vibe: Fashionable people riding their bikes around, small streets, second hand shops, cozy cafes. It's a great place to spot street fashion, the danish look is very elegant in a simple, and relaxed way. There is inspiration everywhere.

  55. That picture is of me! Three whole years ago. And so much has happened in three years - I have spent time in Oslo, Manila, Cologne, Stockholm, Paris, Amsterdam and currently attempting to pass as a New Yorker, well, a Brooklyn-er at least.

And of all the capitals I have seen, Mexico City remains the most inspiring, encouraging and exciting capital for my fashion self. The liveliness of its streets combined with its struggle to establish itself as a fashion-forward, first-world country, creates an atmosphere that fashion is not taken for granted. Mexico City is not Milan, or Paris, nor London. Fashion as we know it cannot be assumed and won't overtake you from every angle as you walk its blocks. But it does live there and you will see it, and when you do, it will leave an impression much sweeter.

  56. It must be Copenhagen.
The city has a relaxed and cool vibe; People riding their trendy bikes everywhere, small street, second hand shops, tiny designer stores. It´s a great place for spotting street fashion. The danish style is very elegant, but still very simple and laidback. Being a norwegian I find the danish people more open minded and friendly. Copenhagen is a city you always want to go back to.

The Sartorialist especially makes me pine! And the clothes might not be anything special, but it's a feeling I get when I see them. The style is easy, simple but gorgeous & enviable- timeless! 91. It's Berlin, without a doubt. The people who live there are not afraid to express their personalities and they're mostly one of their kind. I love the nonchalance you can see on the streets. The fashion of Berlin is complex, not evident, it is hard to define it or imitate it - and that's the magic of this city.
Furthermore I am actually on my way to this lovely place to visit my friend, so I simply cannot betray it!

    ReplyDelete

    berlin is modern, avantgard, unique.
    other cities are the past.
    berlin is the future.

  95. Any city is a fashion capitol in its own right because at the end of the day it's about the people and their culture and clothes are a part of that. it could be paris or a small village in africa - people will always have their own style and each place is worth exploring!

  103. Well I can't choose ... i'm a bad winner in this way . But I live in Paris : Paris is the historical capital of fashion, Coco, Yves, every fashion god come from Paris. Everytime I walk pass the streets I can feel the influence on those men and women and I'm so proud to have this little in commun with them . But then you have London, where Vivienne Westwood meets Burberry : this place can only be amazing. The energy of the people, the daring , everything there make you want to go home straight away and try something more interesting. In this way London is a pure inspiring fashion capitol ! Few hours from there you have the classiest and perfect Milano !The italians, Versace! Dolce&Gabbana! Missoni! The elegance and the frivolity of the itialian is something that even us french, with the " je ne sais quoi " could not beat . Least but not last Berlin, this is the only other capitol I've visit yet, and man this is a big one.It may be because of the history that there, people just go crazy ( in a good way) and everyone feels right about it. and that makes you(foreigner) feels super right about it.All designer and photographer as Joop or Newton. They just feel it and put it into fashion. straight away . So i've only been to 4 major fashion capitols, and i already can't choose one. But one thing is sure, fashion is everywhere .

  105. My favourite fashion capitail is Paris. Walking around at Champ Elysee feels like you're in a other world and century. There's always old french background music in my head , like in an old movie. Fashion started to exist in Paris..Haute Couture was born in Paris in the 18th century, as well as Chanel .. which is the synonym for fashion in my opinion.
Oh, there are so many reasons .. Brigitte Bardot .. my favourite Icon was born in Paris, all those great designers are operating from Paris, Trends are set in paris, all those famous fashion schools are located in paris.. paris has everything. And seriously .. what do you think when someones says Paris ? Well, I'm thinking of the Eiffeltower, the Fashion, and Carrie Bradshaw walking around in a beautiful dress by Versace Couture. Paris is magical.

  106. Berlin, because here it's not all about being a trend-slave. It's about personal style and attitude. You can even rock the streets with your pyjamas.that means "real fashion capital" for me.

  107. Amsterdam. My impression is that Dutch people value self-expression a lot, which you can see in their clothing as well. If you walk on it's streets you see so many styles, but have the feeling that their clothing is not just about following fashion, but being individualistic.

  115. Topping the fashion steaks has to be London! Whether it's perusing it's endless number of up and coming designer boutiques that are popping up across the city, or hitting some of the world's finest department stores, no one should call themselves a true fashionista until they’ve uncovered the hidden gem of London's vintage flea markets. Lose yourself in and among the winding cobbled streets of east London, picking up timeless pieces, or while away a Saturday afternoon in Portobello market, venturing into dusty charity shops and riffling through bustling market stands for one off fashion finds. It is these London based, independent traders that have time and time again re-invented and dictated what is in vogue in London and throughout the glittering fashion pages of the world.
