HUGO BOSS puts glamour into berlin fashion week

let's face it, berlin fashion week is by no means graced with the resources that new york or paris fashion weeks enjoy and so one cannot expect too many surprises or momentum in most of the shows. HUGO BOSS however never fails to impress with a great set up, an amazing model cast and an even more impressive front row. top models Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls and Liu Wen were strutting down the runway at yesterday's presentation of the fall/winter 2012/2013 collection while stunning icon Julianne Moore was watching. next to her were greats like model Georgia May Jagger, Jared Leto (who made a few jokes trying to flirt with georgia, that raised the eyebrows of german Vogue editor Christiane Arp) as well as it-girls Sky Ferreira and Pixie Geldof.

HUGO BOSS made a smart move by inviting star blogger Bryanboy to accompany the whole thing, do some guest-blogging for them and appearing on the largely advertised live-stream. i love him in this HUGO BOSS light blue suit., we need more blue suits in this world.

all in all, the attending guests were a rather elegant lot, with some of my favorite faces below.

model albe hamiti is one of my favorite faces in germany. she currently blogs for styleclicker.

luvinsky is the singer of the band paris suit yourself.

and finally: the show. as always i adored the manly and sophisticated cuts and materials HUGO BOSS dresses the modern man in. most of the collection consisted of black, white and the occasional bright color, making a bold statement without being over the top - a rather german esthetic, in a good way.

i wouldn't say i'm much of a fashion week goer, but whenever berlin fashion week comes around i get a little giddy with excitement as the week feels like a good excuse to stop all other activity and just go to shows, hang out with friends and drink free sparkling wine.

you might get to marvel at presentations by up and coming german designers, sneek into the 5th row of some label you haven't heard of but are happy to get to know or, if you are very very lucky, you may get invited to what is probably the biggest spectacle of berlin fashion week - the HUGO BOSS fashion show.

being invited here means to watch models like Kathrin Thorman and Devon Aoki strut down the runway next guests like Matt Dillon, Hillary Swank or Nena.

thanks to the web and some clever people at HUGO BOSS, there will be a live stream made available of the show so everyone gets to be there, at least digitally. find out in real time what celebs are taking a seat in the front row (more importantly: what are they wearing?), which models were booked and key looks presented at the show.

only last night, i came in from zermatt in switzerland where it looked a lot like this:

needless to say that i am in a complete christmas mood by now. all i want to do all day is make lists of gifts i want to buy for my loved ones, go through recipes of homemade gingerbread and watch every movie ever made about my favorite holiday.

no less important that thinking about the gifts you want to give, is thinking about the ones you will receive. i must have been a real good girl this year, because just as i got in last night, i found a very special treat from CHANEL in my mailbox. it was this lovely limited edition notebook...

CHANEL wants to say thank you and is currently giving away 100 of those beautifully delicate notebooks with a golden bookmark in the shape of a camellia, Coco Chanel's favorite flower.

on the first page and in golden letters it says "in order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.", a wonderful quote from the fashion icon herself.

Bonnie Strange is a photographer, model, blogger, singer, songwriter, stylist - the list is endless. there are few things that this girl cannot do and she never ceases to impress me with her creative ideas and unbelievable energy.

a couple of months ago she started a blog which became popular in no time, with Miss Strange now getting requests left and right. last week she could free a spot on her busy calender to pay me a visit in my studio and do some posing in front of my camera. the results of that be seen tonight at the Gif. Me. Berlin. exhibition at .HBC. More infos here.

let's face it, ladies, it's never bad to find a bit of bling under the christmas tree. a beautiful necklace is always a show-stopper or at the very least it never fails to be an ideal conversation starter. something you never get tired of talking about and something to cherish for many years.

even better when that special piece of jewellery was a gift from someone you love. then it will forever be linked to the person who gave it to you in the first place - a wonderfully romantic idea, i find.

the new face of shoe design

when it comes to supporting young designers, i love that more and more big brands are turning to the huge talent pool out there, offering unique opportunities for creatives to get exposure and recognition for their work. this is what happened again recently, when shoe giant RENO elected a lucky winner to this year's new faces award in the category of shoe design. 31-year-old Simon Barth took home the grand price of €5000 who can now look forward to have his design sold in RENO shops across Germany, starting 22.11.2011.

being a blogger often comes with lots of perks. you may get invited to parties, receive free clothes and sometimes you even get to go on sponsored trips. all those things are pretty great and - yes - pretty decadent, too, but last saturday i was given an opportunity that had not happened to me before and that i only knew from books and movies: i flew across the country for a day to go shopping. i left at 8.40am and returned at 10 in the evening, bags full of clothes, naturally.

the generous donor or my extravagant shopping day was Wertheim Village, a large shopping village near frankfurt, with over 150 outlet stores. here you find ray bans for under €100 and designers like Escada and Longchamp for up to 70% off. a place that's on sale, all year round.

with amazing weather, it was fun strolling through the different shops, trying on clothes and occasionally flashing my 10% off VIP shopping card if i wanted to buy the odd cardigan or jacket. and to meanwhile be productive, i snapped some lovely street fashion of some of the other shoppers.

home in berlin, i often get so caught up in work that i hardly ever find a minute to go shopping. being able to combine work and stocking up my fall/winter wardrobe is pretty darn great.

by the way - should you want to go visit the Wertheim Village, head there for their Denim Weeks that are still on until september 15th and check out all the fun tuff they have going on like pimping your jeans in their denim workshop (studs anyone?) or the possibility of scoring sweet discount deals.

my four new jackets say winter can come.
